DEEP-SEA FISHING

There was some successful deep-sea. fishing at Whangaroa on Thursday. Mr. Stanley Ellis, of Hamilton, took two swordfish weighing 2941 b and 2191 b, and a mako weighing 2401 b. Mr. J. Rees George, of Auckland, landed a mako weighing 2591 b, but had the bad luck to lose a swordfish, after playing it for over an hour. Fishing in Mercury Bay yesterday Mr. J. Cliff McCullough, of Whakatane. caught a swordfish weighing 2901 b.
