“THE GREATEST SHOW . .
WIRTHS’ CIRCUS POPULAR Whenever the caption "The Greatest Show on Earth" is displayed, the name of Wirth is essentially associated with it. The popularity of a good circus will never wane, the glamour of its tinselled performers never fade; the romance of its bright lights and sawdust ring will always compel the fascination of the populace. The reputation which Wirths’ Circus has built in all parts of the world and over a large number of years is well maintained in the presentation of the latest combination now showing on the old dock site near Prince’s Wharf. Crowds are patronising the circus daily, and the thoroughness with which the programme has been arranged—embracing an astounding variety of turns —is evoking expressions of general satisfaction. The animals command much space on the .programme, although their clever tricks and stunts are pleasantly interspersed by acts of more than usual merit and of great daring—trapeze artists, trick riders, acrobats, dancers and comedians. The zoo, which comprises a separate part of the big show, is attractively arranged. Pallenberg’s bears, all beautiful specimens of their kind, ride bicycle and scooters, walk on stilts, and even skate with great precision. During the performance of the trained lions, Mile. Gulnare Hoyer, formerly of the Folies Bergeres, enters the cage to perform her "dance of the thousand feathers." Matinees are being held to-day and on Wednesday next.
