HAURAKI. —The manager reports:— "The seaward face of the 400 ft. level has been advanced Bft. for the week; the reef is from 18in. to 2ft. in width, well defined and favourable for gold. The flow of water is Increasing as the face advances. Quartz stringers are crossing the face In the footwall country from which a considerable flow of water is making. The rise on the junction of the two reefs is up 30ft from the floor of the 400 ft. level. The reef is about 3ft. in width and somewhat broken owing to the influence of the junction. The 500 ft. level chamber has been completed, and the shaft is down about Sft. below the chamber. The country rock is of the same favourable nature as that passed through. The crosscut toward the Hauraki North section has been advanced 15ft., making the total distance from the new reef 424 ft. The country continues of a milder nature and a little water is making on the walls of the clay bands.”
