Tlic Minister of Justice, the Hon. F. J. llolleston, who has been the guest of Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Rolleston for a few days, left yesterday morning for the National Park. The Minister was accompanied by Dr. Gray, superintendent of mental hospitals, and Mr. Dallard. Controller of Prisons. The party is on a tour of the various prison camps, and visited Waikeria early in the weekDr. Fenwick arrived from Wellington this morning by the first express. Mr. A. E. Hefford, chief inspector of fisheries, is staying at the Star Hotel. Archbishop O’Shea is visiting the Hawke’s Bay district. He will return to Wellington at the end of the week. Mr. J. C. Duncan, stationmaster, Auckland, has resumed duty after his annual holidays. Mr. Beaumont Smith, who has been visiting the South, returned to Auckland this morning. The Rev. J. Comrie was among the passengers who travelled by the Limited from Wellington this morning. Mr. P. Hally, Conciliation Commissioner, returned to Auckland this morning by the Limited. Sir Thomas Stringer, late judge of the Supreme Court, is to retain the title of honourable with the approval of the King. Mr. J- W. Collins, secretary to the Department of Industries and Commerce, arrived in Auckland this morning by the Limited. Mr. Cecil Mason, general manager "or First National Pictures (Aust.), Ltd., arrived this morning from Wellington. He is at th© Albert Hotel. Mr. J. V. Wilson, private secretary to the Secretary-General of the League c of Nations, Sir Eric Drummond, will leave for Vancouver by the Niagara next week en route for Geneva. Mr. R. E. Tripe, associate to Mr. Justice Blair, was admitted yesterday by Mr. Justice Blair as a solicitor of the Supreme Court, on the motion of Mr. Noel Johnson. Mr. M. E. Lyons, of Christchurch, has been appointed secretary of the Canterbury Agricultural and Pastoral Association. He takes the place of Mr. G. G. Denniston, who resigned recently. Mr. G. S. Lydne, Chief Mechanical Engineer of the New Zealand Railways, has gone to Australia to attend, as New Zealand representative, the Australian and New Zealand Railways’ General Officers’ Conference in Melbourne. Constable A. McGowan, who is leaving Raetihi to tako charge of the Mount Albert Police Station, was met recently at the Magistrate’s Court and presented with a fountain pen by the members of tho legal profession. Eulogistic reference to Constable McGowan’s good qualities was made by Mr. R. M. Watson, S.M. Several other presentations were made to the constable. including a set of carvers by tho Mayor, on behalf of the residents of the town. HOTEL REGISTER Grand.—Mr. D.
