WEDDING BELLS WEIR—LOW Miss Mae Low, eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. Low, of Kohimarama, was married on Wednesday evening at St. Andrew’s Church, Svmonds Street, to Mr. Thomas Weir, second son of Mr. and Mrs. T. Weir, of Waiheke. The Rev. J. Lamb Harvey officiated at the ceremony. The bride, who entered the church on the arm of her father, was daintly attired in ivory satin with a yoke of silk lace. The same silk lace was scalloped on to the skirt. Her tulle veil, which was caught to the head with a wreath of orange blossoms, fell to form a-train. A shower bouquet of white chrysanthemums and lilies was carried. The bridesmaid was Miss Jean Low. whose China blue frock of crepe de chine was trimmed with cream lace. Pastel shades of tulle were tied in a bow at the side of the head, and a blue and pink bouquet was carried. Mr. S. Weir acted as best man. POTTS—WALLACE The marriage was celebrated last Monday at the Presbyterian Church, Claudelands, of Miss Mary Kerr Wallace to Mr. John Christie Potts, both of Hamilton. The Rev. Gilbert officiated at the ceremony. The bride looked charming in her bead-trimmed pink crepe de chine frock, and mauve crinoline hat to match. Miss Jennie Potts, sister of the bridegroom, was bridesmaid, wearing a very pretty jumper suit of apricot crepe de chine. Mr. Edw-ard Victor Dick, of Collingwood Street, acted as best manHUTCHINSON—CHAPMAN A quiet wedding was solemnised at the bride’s home, Ohaupo, on Wednesday evening, when Miss Emily Chapman, daughter of the late Thomas Chapman, was married to Mr. William Alexander Hutchinson, of Morrinsville, son of the late John Hutchinson. The Rev. W. BLitterworth officiated at the ceremony. The bride, who was given away by Mr. R. B. Hines, of Te Arolia, was attired in a wine-coloured gown of georgette and silk crepe, and carried a bouquet to tone. MACARTHY TRUST WELLINGTON WOMAN APPOINTED Mrs. Henry Hall, of Wellington, has been appointed a member of the Advisory Committee of the T. G. Macarthy Trust. Mrs. Hall, who is the wife of Mr. Henry Hall, barrister and solicitor, and a daughter of the late Mr. J. K. Logan, 1.5.0., has for many years been associated with charitable and other organisations in Wellington, and is well known for her active interest in philanthropic workNORTHCOTE PROGRESSIVE LEAGUE The annual meeting of the Northcot.e Women’s Progressive League was held in the local Parish Hall on Thursday afternoon. Miss Tremain presided, There was an excellent attendance of members. The annal report and balance sheet were read by Mrs. Taylor, and the election of officers for the ensuing year followed. Mrs. McLaughlin was elected president, Mrs. Taylor secretary for the ninth year, and Mesdames Eades and O’Leary vice-presi-dents. Mesdames Jamieson, Swinbank, Townsend and Misses Mackay and Couldray were elected to the committee, and Mrs. Booth and Mrs. Wood were chosen as delegates to the National Council. A hearty vote of thanks was accorded both the retiring president and the new president. PLUNKET SOCIETY DARGAVILLE BRANCH A meeting of the Dargaville branch of the Plunket Society was held on Monday, when matters of interest were discussed by those present. Nurse Graham, who has been responsible for good work in the Northern Wairoa, tendered her resignation, which was received with regret. A clock, which will go for three years without winding, has been presented to the Dargaville branch by Messrs. A. Kohn, Ltd., of Auckland. The donors were accorded a hearty vote of thanks for the gift. A report for the month of February, which detailed the district work, showed that 303 babies were under the supervision of the branch.
