Canada’s Rights

effect of new status CHANGES IN INTERNATIONAL COMMISSION Ry Cable. —Press Association. — Copyright. need. 12.40 p.m. LONDON, Tuesday. Another more startling development as the result of Canada’s changed relationship toward Britain is imminent. From authentic sources it is learned that the Prime Minister, Mr. W. L. Mackenzie King, contemplates utilising the opportunities given by Canada's new status as a British Commonwealth to make drastic changes in the oasis and personnel of the International Joint Commission. Up till now the authority of the Canadiau section of that body had its source in the British Government. The Prime Minister holds that a section should be named by Canada in that country's own right and authority. The resignation of the chairman, Mr. C. A. Magrath, has been in the hands of the Government for three years. It has now been accepted, but it is stated that the Prime Minister has asked for the resignations of the two other members. Sir William Hearst, ex-Premier of Ontario, and Mr. H. A. Powell, of St. John.—A. and N.Z. The International Joint Commission deals with affairs affecting the joint interests of Canada and the United States.
