“NOBODY’S WIDOW”

HIS MAJESTY’S TO-MORROW An exhilarating: comedy with an unusual plot and unexpected situations, such is the London comedy triumph, “Nobody’s Widow,” which is to be presented by W. J. C. Barr’s new English Comedy Company at His Majesty’s Theatre to-morrow night for a short season only. The sole rights of this exhilarating comedy are owned by the J. C. Williamson firm, and recently it achieved remarkable success at the Theatre Royal, Sydney, and subsequently at the firm’s principal theatres throughout Australia and New Zealand. It is an Avery Hopwood comedy, so has all the ingredients for appealing to lovers of bright and vigorous comedy. It has heart interest arising from a very tender romance and a domestic misunderstanding which eventually ends happily after some very complicated and interesting situations. Mr. Eric Harrison, the distinguished English actor, was specially engaged to play the leading part of the Luke of Moreland, a character he created in the original production at the Lyric Theatre, London, where the comedy ran for over a year. Miss Sybil Atholwood (a daughter of that sterling actor, James B. Atholwood) plays opposite to Mr. Harrison in the leading feminine role of “Roxana,” in whic hshe is described as artistic and convincing, while Miss Verna Bain, besides playing a. prominent part, introduces a variety of some of her popular dances. Mr. Dan Flood, always a favourite with Auckland theatre patrons, will be heard in some of his popular pianologues. These artists will have the support of a powerful company of comedians. The scenery and dressing will be on an extensive scale, which will no doubt appeal to Auckland theatre-goers. The box plan at Lewis Eady, Ltd., is wearing a prosperous appearance.

The New Regent will be the principal Auckland theatre celebrating Paramount’s Greater Movie Season this year. Each year the entire month of March is set aside for this celebration of the Greater Movie Season, which heralds the coming of bigger and better motion pictures.
