BOOM COLLAPSES

MISHAP AT OTAHUHU WORKMAN INJURED A worker in the Otahuhu workshops, Herbert Harryman, of Angle Street, Te Papapa, was severely injured this afternoon when a heavy steel jibboom collapsed. Mr. Harryman was directly underneath the boom. He realised his danger ancT jumped to one side among some steel. But for this he would have been crushed to death. When the boom fell it landed on the steel among which Mr. Harryman had taken shelter. He was struck on the head, however, and is also believed to be suffering from internal injuries. The boom was lifting steel when it collapsed. The injured man was immediately brought into the Public Hospital, where he received immediate attention.
