WAIUKU CLUB (From Our Own Correspondent) The annual general meeting of the Waiuku Golf Club was held in the Parish Hall on Tuesday night, the president, Mr. A. White, presiding. The report and balance sheet showed a credit balance of £3 8s lid, which was considered very satisfactory in view of the fact that a large amount had been expended on improvements to the course and the club house. The committee had waited upon the trustees and requested that when a fresh lease (the old lease expires this year) of the property was entered into that during the winter months grazing be limited to sheep. The trustees were sympathetic and it is hoped better conditions would obtain later on. The report also referred to the great loss the club had sustained in the departure of Mr. H. B. Armitage, who was the first captain of the club, and later a president. The present solid position of the club was greatly due to his assistance both financially and otherwise. The election of officers resulted as follows: President, Mr. A. White (reelected); captain, Mr. W. S. Colbeck; vice-captain, Dr. C. E. Howden; secretary, Mr. A. W. Ohlson (re-elected); treasurer, Miss A. Arkle (re-elected); committee, Messrs, J. Forbes, A. Christianson, T. R. Bloomfield, C. C. Munro, C. B. Herrold; auditor, Mr. J. Forbes. It was decided that the entrance fee be waived for this year. On the motion of Mr. J. Forbes it was resolved that subject to the greens being in order that the official opening of the club take place on March 17. Mr. H. B. Armitage was elected a life member of the club in recognition of his services.
