GETTING READY FOR ; NEW SEASON HADLEY CONGRATULATED Great enthusiasm was shown at the annual meeting • of the Mar is t Rugby Club this week. Mr. O’Connor presided over a large attendance of members and supporters. Before the business of the meeting began, the chairman made feeling reference to the death of Brother Columbanus. Members stood in silence as a tribute to his memory. The report showed that the past season had been a successful one, the junioi grades of the club winning the Southland Shield, one of the finest trophies of its kind in New Zealand, and the sixth grade team winning the championship. Congratulations were extended to *‘Swin” Hadley on

attaining All Black honours. Members wished him the best of luck in South Africa. Pleasure was expressed by the meeting at the return to Auckland of Brother Calixtus. His election as coach and selector of the senior team was received with enthusiasm.

The election of officers resulted: President, Mr. T. Buxton; hon. secretary, Mr. H. Marshall; assistant hon. secretary, Mr. D. Maher; club captain, Mr.. E. Earlly; hon. treasurer, Mr. E. J. C. Courtney; delegates to Auckland Rugby Union, Messrs. C. Anderson, J. Hoare, E. Casey; hon. auditors, Messrs. H. McDonald and T. Carroll; Management Committee, Messrs. J. Loft, M. Judd, W. Eville, C. Hadley, J. Cotter, S. O’Sullivan, H. McDonald, P. Lillis.
