NOTES What is the wave-length of a Ford car’s ignition system? This question has been settled by a Devonport radio enthusiast, who states it is in the neighbourhood of 20 metres. While listening in to SSW, on 24 metres, he has been troubled by a kind of regular static which has blotted out; the programme on several occasions. A few days ago he was listening when a Ford started up outside. At the same moment the noises began. A little experimenting showed him where the trouble had been coming from. Different; cars transmit on different wavelengths, all about 20, and motor-cycles are even lower. One well-known make can be heard on about five metres. There are 85,000 shops in London, excluding the city. * * * Pennies issued by the Royal Mint during 1926 numbered more than 10,500,000.
