“NOBODY’S WIDOW”

HIS MAJESTY'S ON SATURDAY Commencing on Saturday, at His Majesty’s Theatre, W. J. C. Barr will present, by arrangement with J. C. Williamson, Ltd., “Nobody’s Widow,” which is described as an unusual comedy with an entirely original angle. This play differs from the usual run of comedies inasmuch as that although it probably contains more than the usual amount of screamingly funny situations one expects from an Avery Hopwood farce, it has also a very dramatic love interest running through it. Mr. W. J. C. Barr considers himself fortunate in being able to bring from Australia for his Dominion tour Mr. Eric Harrison, who was in the original production of “Nobody’s Widow” at the Lyric Theatre, London, where he played opposite Miss Doris Keane, the wellknown American actress. Mr. Harrison will be seen in the leading role, “The Duke of Moreland,” and as he played this part for over two hundred nights in London, his performance will be eagerly looked forward to. Mr. Harrison is no stranger to Dominion audiences, as his fine performance in the leading part in “Scandal” will be well remembered, when it played through New Zealand some four years ago. The leading role in “Nobody’s Widow” is played by Miss Sybil Atholwood, daughter of that fine old actor, J. B. Atholwood. Miss Atholwood is a young Australian actress who showed much promise when she played at the Palace Theatre, Sydney.

Miss Verna Bain, the brilliant and talented Australian premiere danseuse, has an important part in this production and in addition will be seen in selections from her terpsichorean repertoire, with which she has only recently concluded an engagement with the Tivoli Theatre in Sydney and Melbourne.

Another New Zealand favourite is Mr. Dan Flood, recently seen with the Humphrey Bishop Company. Mr. Flood has a screamingly funny role in this production, that of a very sleepy young man—too tired to propose to the girl of his choice even. The cast also includes Miss Rita McGee, Mr. Warwick Hill, Mr. Thomas McDermott, etc. Seats may be booked and box pl§n seen at Lewis Eady, Ltd.
