SUCH IS FAME
Benno Moseiwitsch, the famous pianist, who will shortly enter upon another tour of Australia anc j N ew Zealand under the management of J. and N. Tait, tells an amusing story in connection with his last visit to Melbourne. One morning he found among his mail the following letter: — “Dear Mr. Moiseiwitsch, I read in the paper the other day that no one has ever walked out of one of your recitals. Last night you may have noticed that a gentleman walked out just when you had finished playing a number. I was that person, but lest you should think that my action was intended as an expression of criticism of your music, 1 hasten to say that I was called away by a proud domestic event. Both are doing well, and, with your permission, we are going to name him Bonno.”
