CHARGE OF MANSLAUGHTER
WOMAN ACQUITTED
Press Association. OAMARU, Wednesday. A charge of committing manslaughter by causing the death of Jessie Elizabeth Smart, through performing an illegal operation, was preferred against Mary Jane Clark, of Dunedin, in the Supreme Court to-day before Mr. Justice Sim. After a retirement of 20 minutes the jury returned a verdict of not guilty. Accused was discharged.
