BELGIAN’S TREACHERY
BETRAYED ALLIED SOLDIERS IMPRISONED FOR LIFE By Cable.—Press Association.—Copyright. SYDNEY, To-day. A Paris message states that a Belgian named Laperre, who was accused of treason to both France and Belgium, was sentenced to life imprisonment in a fortress.. Be was previously condemned to death in his absence by the Belgian Court. The trial lasted for five days, a constant stream of French and Belgian witnesses stating that Laperre obtained their confidence when they wished to get through Holland to England, and then betrayed them to German authorities in occupied territory. It was stated that many British, French and Belgians lost their lives through Daperre's treachery.
