ALARM ON MAUNGANUI
FUSING WIRES IGNITE WOODWORK By Cable.—-Press Association. — Copyright. SYDNEY, Tuesday. Some excitement was caused on board the Maunganui last night by an alarm of fire. When the vessel was nearing the coast the electric light wires behind the panelling in the lounge fused and ignited the woodwork. The outbreak was extinguished without difficulty before much damage had been done, but as a precautionary measure the vessel was speeded up and her lifeboats were swung out.—A. and N.Z.
