PROMINENT IN BUSINESS
C. F. BENNETT is the controlling factor in the real estate firm of C. F. Bennett, Ltd. During the last twenty years he has negotiated many important deals in real estate.
Like many other leading Auckland business men Mr. Bennett was born at Thames , but came up to Auckland when still a. lad. It was in this city that he studied dentistry, and later established a business on his oion account. Trouble with his eyes, however, necessitated his giving up his chosen profession in favour of a less exacting work, and about twenty years ago he hung up his shingle in Swanson Street as a land and estate agent. To-day the firm is one of the leading real estate firms in the City of Auckland. In addition to his many business interests Mr. Bennett has been actively concerned in civic and social affairs. For several years he served as secretary to the Auckland branch of the Reform League, taking an active part in the organisation of several election campaigns and, as a candidate in a three-cor-nered fight for the Auckland "West seat, was narrowly defeated by Mr. M. J. Savage, M.P. He also served for a term on the Auckland City Council, not seeking re-election. A staunch supporter of the prohibition movement, Mr. Bennett has proved a valuable asset to the cause during several campaigns.' He is a member of the vestry of the All Saints’ Church, Ponsonby , and holds a seat on the governing committee of the Richmond Road Children's Home. He is also a member of the Anglican General Trust Board. During the war period Mr. Bennett held a commission in the home defence department.
