SEA MONEY SCORES V.R.C. MEETING CONTINUED By Cable.—Press Association.-*—Copyright. MELBOURNE, Tuesday. Fine. warm weather prevailed for the Victoria Racing Club’s races today. A few New Zealanders were present. Cobranveil was scratched for the Cup at 12.45 p.m. Bonny led all the way in the Hopeful Stakes and won comfortably. She cost 120gns as a yearling. She has now recorded two wins and one second in three starts. Her time equalled Kampion’s, and is a course record. Impartial was fourth early and led Into the straight in the Elms Handicap and won nicely. He was raced by Textile’s part-owner, Mr. C. C. Brown. Matang led throughout the March Steeplechase and won nicely. The rider (Tagell) won the National Hurdles on Coybeau. THE BIG RACE Sea Money was :hird early in the Australian Cup, and won nicely. Frilford finished strongly ancl Kingun surprised everyone. Sea Money’s owner (Mr. T. Davies) raced the hurdler Pildin. Both are trained by Mr. Q. Murrell. This is Sea Money’s most important win to date. Merat was always prominent and narrowly beat tho fast-finishing Lowfield in the Nursery Handicap. Merat is owned and trained at Adelaide, and was ridden by Dempsey. Thracian Belle was fourth early in the Bourke Handicap, but. finishing fast, won easily. ELMS HANDICAP A sweepstakes: of £5 each with £SOO added; 1 mile IMPARTIAL. 6.11 ] HERCUS, 7.7 2 ANTON QUEEN, 7.7 3 Seven starters. Won by a length. Time, 1.39. MARCH STEEPLECHASE A sweepstakes of £2 each, with £SOO added; about 2 miles and half a furlong MATANG, 9.3 1 AGICOLO. 11.9 2 OWNNYILLA, 9.10 3 Eleven starters. Won by nine lengths. Epergne, Windlemoor and Warland fell. Time. 4.22. THE AUSTRALIAN CUP A handicap sweepstakes of £25 each, with £3,0000 added; 2J miles SEA MONEY (T Davies), ch g, by Sea Prince—Hush Money, syrs, 0.9, J. O’Brien 1 FRILFORD (J. H. Flannagan), ch h, by Swynford—Nicely, 6yrs, 7.10, W. Duncan 2 KING UN (J. H. Slade), b g, by Kingsburgh—Lady Gunner, syrs, 6.7, W. Elliott 3 Eleven starters. Tordilla and Kingun made the running. Sea Money took charge two furlongs from the post and won by half a length. Kingun was a length and three-quarters away'. Imitator was fourth, and then came Spear Maiden. The sectional times in the Cup were: First six furlongs, 1.19 J; last six furlongs, 1.151; concluding mile, 1.41. J. O’Brien, rider of Sea Money', stated that the horse was always going well. O'Brien is only IS years old, and has ridden 21 winners to date. Knevitt, the rider of Imitator, stated that the horse tired. BOURKE HANDICAP A sweepstakes of £7 each, with £750 added: 7 furlongs THRACIAN BELLE, 8.1 1 CHESOAN, 8.2 2 BISKRA, S.ll 3 Won by four lengths. Time, 1.24.1, a quarter of a second outside the Australian and New Zealand record. All the placed horses are from Adelaide.— A. and N.Z.
