MAY CAUSE BLAZE.
The idea, that a car must be heated up and running before it is subjected to the hazard of self-ignition accounts for many car fires. A weak battery is one of the small things that encourage car fires, and this applies when the engine is cold rather than when it is hot. A typical instance was where an owner, failing to get action from the battery, decided to let the car crank itself by rolling it down hill in gear. Excessive choking flooded the carburettor and a backfire did the rest. A costly car went up in smoke because an owner failed to appreciate that a large percentage of fires start when engines are cold.
