AUCKLAND WOOL SALE

FINAL FIXTURE NEXT WEEK The third and final Auckland sale for the 1927-28 wool-selling season opens in the Town Hall on the evening of Thursday, March 15. The whole catalogue should be cleaned up at the one sitting. The offering will comprise mostly oddments with a big percentage of back country wools, which could not be got forward in time for the February fixture. The bulk of the season’s crutchings are not yet available and will have to be disposed of at later oddment sales. As yet it is hard to estimate the size of the catalogue, as only a small quantity is held in the stores. Practically a week is left until the closing date, however, giving ample time for all available wools to come forward. CANTERBURY EWE FAIRS STEADY DEMAND AT AMBERLY Press Association . CHRISTCHURCH, Monday. The first of the big autumn ewe fairs in Canterbury was held at Amberley to-day, when there was an entry of 33,000 animals, almost all of which were halfbred ewes, and some lines of halfbred lambs. There was a very large attendance and a steady demand throughout, only an odd lot being passed. Farmers were, however, cautious in their bidding, and there was no desire to give extreme prices for young ewes, but the sale was considered a very satisfactory one. The range of prices was as follows: Best two-tooth ewes, 38s to 435; average two-tooth ewes, 35s to 37s 6d; four and six-tooth ewes, 33s to 34s 6d; fouryear ewes, 27s 6d to 32s 6d; four and five-year ewes, 25s to 275; five and sixyear ewes, 20s to 245; aged ewes with good mouths, 15s to 17s 6d; rape ewes, 10s to 12s; good halfbred ewe lambs, 20s and 29s 3d.
