WAIHI LAUNCH PARTY RETURNS

SHELTERED FROM STORM The Waihi launch party is safe at Mayor Island. Six of the men returned to Waihi last evening by motor-car from Taiiranga; the other two remained with the launch to try and save her. The party, which left on Saturday afternoon for Mayor Island was caught by a south-east gale and rather than attempt to land at Bo wen town bar, which was considered toe dangerous, returned to Mayor Island. The men were picked up by a fishing launch off the island and taken t»* Tauranga. The party consisted of Colin Cooper and Leslie Wilson <owners of the launch), Neil Mangussen, Reginald Burke, William Hales, “Sandy” Thompson, Peter Bcnni*’, and Harry Cornes.
