Canterbury’s second innings was continued in fine weather this morning by Gregory and Jacobs, Grimmett and Blackie being the opening bowlers. After a couple of overs McNamee replaced Grimmett, who was transferred to the north end in place of Blackie. The score at noon was 42 for one wicket. One of the most exciting cricket matches ever witnessed in the King Country to<ilc place here to-day, when a Waikato i«l.retentative team met a team representing the King Country Cricket Association, for the South Auckland shield, king Country batted first, and went outfor a total of 98, A Sandel being the highest scorer, with 28. »Vai.kato’s first innings was an even greater debacle, as the whole eleven were dismissed for a total of 61.
