CAPITOL

‘‘PAINTED PONIES” ! ‘Painted Ponies,” now at the Capitol Theatre, provides Ethlyne Clair with a vehicle for winsomeness and Hoot with a background for some of the most gripping drama and the most thrilling cowboy stunts he has ever performed before the camera. Many of the scenes were shot at the famous Saugus, California, rodeo. The excitement is high pitched during the sequences made within the arena, where wild horse riding and other forms of cowboy daredeviltry are dashed into the stirring screen melodrama. “Painted Ponies” is the story of Bucky Simms, champion cowboy of the North, who blows into Toptown to compete for the southern trophy. Before he knows it he finds himself competing for the heart of a pretty girl, and his rival is a man with a yellow • streak, who strikes from behind.
