A PROMISING FILLY

A PROMISING youngster last year was the three-year-old Author Dillon —Pearlchild filly Cornelian, who made her appearance at the races on three occasions. She was first stepped out *n a novice class at Hutt Park, and made a very warm favourite, but failed to get in the money. Great Earl, Roamer and Maud Logan filling the respective places. On the second day Bob Mills’s filly was again the elect of backers, but third was the best she could do, registering 3 42 1-5, Tui Wildwood and Jessie Huon finishing in front of her. Her third and last appearance was in the Great Northern Derby, won by Great Peter. Shadowland was next, and then came Cornelian, the filly recording 3.31 2-5 for the 12 furlongs. She is billed to make her first Claudelands on Saturday in tne laucelands on Saturday in the Progressive Handicap, and eff the front must be entitled to respect. Cornelian is another of A. W. Broughton’s good te.**^-
