IN THE MARKET PLACE

POOR DEMAND FOR APPLES TOMATOES SELL FREELY Steady trading is reported in most sections of the City Marts. Fruit meets with a ready sale, but supplies of vegetables are still restricted. A good demand is maintained for Bon Cretien pears, and the price has increased slightly over the week. Choice tomatoes are also selling freely. Bananas and oranges meet with a steady sale with prices for the former, especially, well down toward the- season’s bedrock rates. In the field and garden produce section, supplies of potatoes are still rather limited and a firm demand prevails. Following the recent rains there is a tendency for supplies of green vegetables such as lettuces to incerase in supplv. Eggs and butter meet with a moderate demand at late rates.
