Ponsonby Regatta

CRUISING CLUB’S ANNUAL EVENT HANDICAPS DECLARED Large entries have been received for the fourteenth annual regatta of the Ponsonby Cruising Club, to be held to-morrow. Given suitable weather conditions, some keen racing will be witnessed. The Melanesian Mission ship Southern Cross has kindly been placed at the disposal of the club as a flagship by Captain H. Burgess. Launches will leave the jetty at St. Mary’s Bay for the flagship at frequent intervals. Afternoon tea will be provided. The three-flag system of starting will be employed, but shapes will be used instead of flags.: Bach craft has been allotted a special recall number, and if her number is displayed the boat concerned must return immediately. Competitors must keep outside the boat harbour wall, but the pile beacon off the boat harbour wall is not a fairway mark. The sandspit beacon and Bean Hock must be regarded as fairway marks.
