SISTER OF MERCY’S DEATH

MOTHER MARY ROLAND Press Association. GREYMOUTH, Wed. The death occurred suddenly last evening at the Greymouth Convent, of Mother Mary Mechtildes Boland, a pioneer Sister of Mercy, who came last week for the jubilee celebrations from Christchurch, where she was Mother Superior of the Convent of Mercy for many years. Previously she was first Superior of the Greymouth Convent. Mother Roland arrived on the West Coast 50 years ago. She was a native of Nenagh, County Tipperary, Ireland, and was 82 years of age. She was attacked by a stroke of apoplexy early this evening, and died four hours later. The funeral will take place at Christchurch on Friday.
