HOW A FRAUD FAILED CRIMINAL’S FORGETFULNESS If John Lennox, aged 62, had not become mixed in his Scottish clans last week, he might have avoided the imprisonment which came his way to-day. T ENNOX pleaded guilty at the Police Court to-day to a charge of obtaining thing valued at £2 10s, and £8 ir - .oney by means of a valueless chequ , Chief-Detective Hammond said that accused went into a leading drapery store and was given a blank cheque, which he signed “jock Cameron.” The next day he went hack again, but that time he used the name McDonald. “He’s been doing this sort of thing for 25 years,” said Mr. Hammond, “and twice he has been declared an habitual criminal. “He tells an exceptionally good tale,” added the Chief-Detective. Lennox was sentenced to six months imprisonment.
