A NEWMARKET WINNER MELBOURNE, Wednesday. A Newmarket Handicap candidate, Highland (9.10), won the Mentone Open Handicap to-day from Red Sea by half a length. Stage Saint Was third, two lengths away. Time, 1.14. Raoumiki and Cannon were unplaced. Me rah, winner of the two-year-old division, ran five furlongs in 1.0, which is a course record.
