BOX PLANS NOW OPEN The Cherniavsky Trio, who are opening here on Saturday take a tremendous interest in art .as well as music. They express themselves as quite in accord with the views of their manager in his writings on Laka, the Hawaiian Goddess of Art. Referring to the ancient times, he writes:— % “Laka taught them that beauty was a law of manifestation to which they must make all objects and institutions conform. Their ancient religion was beautiful so that made their art creative. Laka would not tolerate imitative art, for she understood that there was too little growth involved in it. P or growth in art we must have spontaneity; for when we have spontaneity yve have the magnetism and glamour induced through the exertion of the creative principle. “No lasting happiness without art and no perfection of thought, withount perfection of form ” was the mesage of Laka to the Hawaiians. It was the message of Troth of Egypt. This message was given to every great civilisation. Orpheus inspired with it. Pythagora gave it a psychological basis, and until we drive it into the consciousness of our corpse like alleged civilisation, the latter will not take unto itself a beautiful form.
