RIDER BY JURY
JUDGE DISAGREES (From Our Otcn Correspondent) HAMILTON, To-day. At the Supreme Court, Hamilton, yesterday, Mr. Justice Blair made it ! plain that he did not agree with the recommendation made by the jury in the case of E. W. S. Corliss, a prisoner j charged with assaulting a warder at Hautu Prison Camp. The recommendation was “that the medical treatment i of prisoners at the Hautu Prison Camp jat Tokaanu calls for an urgent inj quiry.” His Honour considered there was nothing in the evidence to justify | the passing of such a rider. The accused had only made statements. He j had not gone into the witness box and I given evidence on oath.
