SWIMMING IN SYDNEY
EXCITING RACING MISS STOCRLEY INDISPOSED By Cable.—Press Association. — Copyright* SYDNEY, Wednesday. The women’s 100yds backstroke swimming championship of New South Wales at the Coogee baths this evening resulted as follows: —Miss Bonnie Mealing, 1; Miss M. Mealing, 2; Miss' E. Brown, 3. Won by 10yds. Time. 1.15 3-5. The winner led all the way after the first few yards. She beat Miss Ena Stockley’s record of 1.20 by 4 2-ss. There was a large attendance of spectators, who were much disappointed at Miss Stockley’s absence owing to indisposition. An exciting race between her and Miss D. Mfealing had been anticipated. The 220yds free-style resulted: Miss E. Davey, 1; Miss Kathleen Millar, 2; Miss B. Taw, 3. Miss Millar led for the first 50yds when Miss Davey joined her. They swam* together to the last 20yds, and there was an exciting struggle to the finish. Miss Davey .Winning by a touch. Her time TVas 2.52 1-5, and Miss Millars, 2.52 5-10. Miss Stockley was also to have competed in this race, but her indisposition nr even ted —A. and N;Z.
