MOTOR-TRUCK BURNED

DRIVER’S NARROW ESCAPE On Tuesday evening a motor-truck, owned by Mr. Les. Armstrong, plumber, and driven by an employee, Mr. T. O’Connor, was destroyed by fire near the cemetery gates, on the Te Rahu Road. O’Connor was driving into town when he noticed the front portion of the vehicle was ablaze. He had barely time to get clear when the truck started off, crashing through a fence into a swampy area alongside. The vehicle was insured for £IOO, and-’ is regarded as a total loss.
