CORNWALL LEAVES BRISBANE.— Cabled advice has been received by the Xew Zealand Shipping: Company that the Coraw; ’ 1 left Brisbane on Sunday for Xew ly . mouth, where she is due to-mor-row to commence loading-. COAL FROM NEWCASTLE. —The Australian steamer Echunga arrived at Auckland shortly after 5 o’clock last evening: from Xewcastle, and berthed later at the King’s Wharf, to discharge 5,500 tons of coal for the New Zealand railways. The vessel experienced a rineweather trip across the Tasman Sea, but coming down the coast she meta strong southerly, which delayed her slightly. Dalgety and Company are the local agents for the vessel. Captain ID. Graham is in command, and the following are the officers:—Chief, Mr. C. Geadon; second, Mr. A. S. Macdonald; third, Mr. C. J. Walton; chief engineer, Mr. A. Mclntyre; second, Mr. W. Bevan; third, Mr. A. Quant; fourth, Mr. H. Jones. HERMINIUS IN PORT.—Formerly the Shaw, Savill and Albion Company’s Waimana, but now the White Star steamer Herminius. arrived at Auckland last evening from Antwerp with over 6,000 tons of basic slag for discharge here, and berthed at the King’s Wharf to unload under the agency of L. II). Nathan and Company. \She sailed from Antwerp on January 17 and experienced very boisterous westerly weather during the first week from port. Afterwards generally fine weather prevailed, except during the last 24 fhours of the voyage, when a hard southerly gale and rough seas were encountered and delayed her arrival by about four hours.
Captain T. V. Roberts is in command, and the following is the list of officers:— Chief, C\lr. A. Sims Reeve: second, Mr. G. McCraith; third, Mr. H>. McGregor; fourth, Mr. A. Parker; seventh, Mr. E. Howard; refrigerating engineer, Mr. G. Doughty; chief steward, Mr. A. Brereton; surgeon. Dr. J. DawOn completion of her discharge at Auckland, the Herminius will commence loading here and subsequently load also at Gisborne, New Plymouth, Wanganui, Wellington and Port Chalmers. She is scheduled to clear the Otago port finally on April 1 for London, Avonmouth, Glasgow and Liverpool, via Panama.
WESTMORELAND ARIVES.—The Federal Line steamer Westmoreland arrived yesterday with general merchandise from Newport (Monmouthshire), Glasgow and Liverpool. She is unloading a quantitv of the cargo at Queen’s Wharf, and will unload the remainder at Napier, Wellington, Lyttelton, Dunedin and New Plymouth. She sailed from Liverpool on January 21, and cleared Panama on February 6. Westerly storms were encountered in the Atlantic for five days, and a hard southerly gale was experienced when the vesesl was nearing Auckland. Otherwise generally fair weather marked the voyage. RUAPEHU AT WELLINGTON.—From London and Southampton, the New Zealand Shipping Company’s liner Ruapehu arrived at Wellington at i o clock this morning, and berthed two hours later, to land her passengers and commence the discharge of her cargo. The vessel is to be dispatched on Saturday next for Lyttelton and Port Chalmers to complete putting out her cargo. HUNTINGDON POSTPONED. The New Zealand Shiping Company advises that the Huntingdon is now not likely to leave Lvttelton before Thursday for V el.melon, where she should arrive on *ridav morning. The departure or the vessel from Wellington for Southampton, London, Avonmouth. Glasgow and Liverpool has been postponed until Monday in the meanwhile.
