SOLVING THE PROBLEM
OF those engaged in the Wai-» kato Cup on Saturday, Loch Moigh, Dick Dillon, Lady Dunmore, Rockburn, Gold Jacket, Wallroon and Hughie Wallace took part in the Mark Memorial Cup at Claudelands on December 3. On that occasion Loch Moigh (4.36) won in 4.35, Dick Dillon (4.35) being second in 4.34 1-5, and Lady Dunmore (4.35) third in 4.34 2-5, Rockburn (4.38) being the next to finish. On Saturday Loch Moigh, who won over two miles on the first day of the Otahuhu fixture, is on 4.33, Dick Dillon on 4.35, Lady Dunmore 4.36 and Rockburn 4.36. The latter ran a fine race during the Christmas carnival when he secured second place to King Pointer, but the best he registered was 4.37 4-5, while Dick Dillon finished third in 4.35 1-5. Working out the result on this basis, Dick Dillon should account for Rockburn, but what of Lady Dunmore, who in turn might, providing she goes right out Dick it out of a place? Loch Moigh is a fine pacer and will no doubt again prove superior to those he defeated in December, but there is the newcomer, Native Prince, who won the other day, like a good one, in 4.32 1-5, and is still on a 4.32 peg. The solution of the problem looks easy perhaps but, remember. Loch Moigh is a real horse and has yet to be seriously tested.
