Who Should Grant Jockeys' Licences?
THE W. S. BAGBY CASE APPEAL TO BE HEARD TO-MORROW The granting of a jockey’s licence to .* Hagby by the Licensing Committee of the New Zealand Racine: Conference, it will be
remembered, formed the subject of a protest by the Auckland District Committee, which passed the fcllowi n g resolution: “That an emphatic protest be made against the action of the Licensing Committee of the New Zealand Racing Conference for having removed the
suspension of W. S. Bagby’s jockey's licence in the face of this committee’s refusal to recommend him for a licence, and the number of warnings issued by the conference, and that the conference be informed that it is the intention of this committee to appeal against such decision.” The necessary conditions having been fulfilled by the Auckland District Committee, the secretary of the New Zealand Racing Conference has now notified the appealing body that the case has been fixed for hearing at Wellington to-morrow afternoon.
