BUNDABERG WILD WITH EXCITEMENT
Airman Carried Shoulder High 'TWENTY THOUSAND people cheered themselves hoarse, 1 rushed the landing ground, and carried Hinkler shoulder high, when the airman landed at Bundaberg at the end of his long solo flight from England. By reaching his home toYvn 20 days after leaving Croydon, Hinkler realised his hope “to drop in home at Bundaberg within three weeks.”
By Cable. —Press *4.5 Reed. 9.5 a.m. BRISBANE, Monday. The Australian airman, Mr. Bert Hinkler, ended his long solo flight from England at 4 p.m. to-day. The last hop from Longreach to Bundaberg was made against a strong head wind. Business is practically at a standstill in Bundaberg. After dinner at mid-day the people gathered on the recreation ground to await the airman’s arrival.—A. and N.Z.
