D r . returned to Auckland on the Un» Niagara. During his 15 months’ absence from Auckland Dr. and Mrs. Fitt visited the leading American universities tron Harvard and Yale onwards. A Rockj. feller Foundation fellowship made available facilities for research for Dr. Fitt which he would not othenris, have been privileged to enjoy. “I consider foundations similar to the Rockefeller one of the finest methods possible for creating a good understanding among the Englishspeaking peoples,” he said. Though he heard little of N ew Zea , land in the United States— it was g en eraliy believed that we were pan o£ Australia—he said it was not infre quent to hear New Zealand's political and social systems held up as «. amples in the school room.
“But apart from that, and our infant welfare work, which is creating, ot course, world wide attention, the Americans know very little about us.” declared Dr. Fitt.
