NEWS AND NOTES HAMILTON MOTOR-CYCLE RACES A comprehensive programme of races is. being run off at Hamilton on March 10. Members of the Sports Motorcycle Club are riding down to Hamilton in a body and making a week-end run of it. MURIWAI SPEED CHAMPIONSHIPS These are being held in the weekend, March 17 and 18. The following events will be run off: Side-cp.r championship: up to 350 c.c. S.V.; 350 c.c. 0.H.V.; 500 c.c. 0.H.V.; and unlimited open. Other events will include a flying half-mile record and a 30-mile race for th© Acton Cup, open to 350 c.c. machines. Th© championship carried with it a prize of £2OO. The third and fourth places were also secured by Harleys. A LADY RIDERS’ CLUB? If there were any pessimists who opposed the entry of lady members into motor-cycle clubs, they can now begin to cheer up, for it looks as though a separate club of lady motor-cyclists may some day be formed in Auckland. Anyway, a start was made a Sunday or two ago, when six or seven lady motor-cyclists held a little outing on their own—males strictly forbidden. Where they went no one seems to know, except that it was to some beach. RACES ON OREWA BEACH The North Shore Motor-Cycle and Sports Club is holding a race meeting on Orewa Beach on Sunday, March 4, commencing at 10.30 a.m. The programme is as follows;: 22 h.p. S.V. 4 miles, 3 turns. 22 h.p. 0.V., 6 miles, 5 turns. 3£ h.p., open, 8 miles, 7 turns. Club championship, open, 6 miles, 5 turns. Open championship, 10 miles, 9 turns Flying half-mile. All events are post entry. THE ROAD TO OREWA The.best way to reach Orewa Beach is to proceed via Devonport, Milford and the main Whangarei Road, to Silverdale. After passing Silverdale, run down hill to cross the Orewa River Bridge and another half-mile further on a track will be seen running down on to the beach. (Note. —The sand may be soft.) Total distance from town, 22 miles.
Ignition Tip When testing the ignition system of your car for possible deficiencies it is best tj work while the engine is cold. When the engine is run cold and there develops a tendency to skip, stall or be sluggish when the throttle is suddenly opened, all you have to do is to note whether the trouble disappears when the choke is pulled out slightly If this makes no change in the engine performance, the chances are the ignition is to blame.
