AUSTRALIAN ETCHER ARRIVES EXHIBITION LIKELY With the object of creating interest in the Australian painters and etchers, Mr. Ernest Finlay. 8.A., the Australian etcher, arrived in Auckland to-day by the Marama from Sydney. Mr. Finlay, who is representing the Australian Painter-Etchers’ Society, and * Art in Australia,” will probably organise an exhibition while in Auckland. Mr? Sydney Long Is the president of the society. Mr. Finlay at ore time studied under this recognised Australian master. It is also his intention to visit Wellington and the Southern centres. Mi Finlay will probably spend several months in the Dominion. “We recognise that the work of leading Australians is not as well known as it should be here.” he remarked, “and we want to remove all that.’’ Mr. Finlay hopes to carry back representative New Zealand work with him to the Commonwealth.
