REV. H. K. VICKERY ARRIVES FLYING ANGEL MISSIONER The Rev. H. K. Vickery, the new missioner at the Flying Angel Mitttion in Auckland, first became interested in New Zealanders while acting as a stretcher-bearer at Ga lipoli. I: was not until he was appointed to Auckland in his present capacity, however, that he had an opportunity of visiting this country. Accompanied by Airs. Vickery and heir small daughter, the new padre :or the seamen who frequent the port of Auckland, arrived here to-day by the Marama from Sydney. Mr. Vickery comes from Newcastle, the Coal City of New South Wales, ind one of the largest Australian ports. Nineteen years have passed since Mr. Vickery tirst Joined the seamen’s nisaion at Melbourne. Apart from his war service he hits been engaged in i.hi* work ever since. It was only on his appointment to New Zealand a few weeks ago that he relinquished his chaplainship to the Royal Australian Naval Reserve. He .<aw service on Gallipoli with the field ambulance of the Australian Light Horse. Mr. Vickery was educated at the Caulfield and Church of England Grammar Schools, and subsequently studied for the Anglican priesthood at St. John’s College, Melbourne University. .
