McCombs, of Christ - church, who have been in Auckland for about a week, have returned to the South. Judge M. Fleming, from Australia, w j lo ia visiting New Zealand, has gone the Hermitage and the Southern Lakes District. Mr. J- C. Lawford left by train last evening for Wellington, where he will ■Jnin the Tahiti for England, via America. Lieut-Colonel Count Ostorog, of Chelsea, London, who has just completed a tour of the South Island, is now going through the Auckland and Jtotorua districts. The Hon. Mason Stone, ex-Lieuten-ant-Governor of the State of Vermont, w ho arrived in Auckland last night from Waitomo caves, will depart for Sydney by the Niagara this evening. The Minister of Health, the Hon. j X. Young, joined the Limited express at Frankton last evening on his return to Wellington after attending the medical conference at Hamilton. The Prime Minister (Rt. Hon. J. G. Coatee) is atending the Grey district jubilee celebrations, after which he will return to Christchurch, arriving back in Wellington in about a fortnight’s time. Mr. J. A. Lee, M.P., is away on an organisation tour on behalf of the Isew Zealand Labour Party. He covered Taumarunui and Ohura last week, and has now gone further south to Pahiatua, Woodville and Masterton. Mr. Gordon M. Gentles, for many years an active worker for the Y.M.C.A. in Auckland, left by train lust evening for Wellington to join the Tahiti for the United States, where he intends to settle. Mr. Gentles is the youngest son of Mr. H. J. Gentles, of Parnell. The Rev. James Haslop, of Canada, is to act as locum tenens for the Rev. James Ings, of St. David’s Presbyterian Church, Te Aroha, for six months from March, during which time Mr. Ings will be on holiday in England. Mr. Haslop was a Presbyterian minister in Canada. The Minister of Agriculture, the Hon. 0. J. Hawken, will visit various part?, o? the Franklin electorate to-day, and will address a meeting at Papatoetoe this evening. Mr. Hawken will speak at Tauranga to-morrow evening, and later in the week will visit Rotorua, where he is expected to give an address. Dr. J. B. Conclliffe, formerly Professor of Economics at Canterbury College, and now Research Secretary of the Institute of Pacific Relations, was in China during December, visiting Shanghai and Hong-Kong. He planned to go inland to Tsinaufu and then to Peking. From Peking he intended to gc to Mukclen and to visit Korea early this month.
