CHERNIVSKY TRIO

COMING TO AUCKLAND The Cherniavsky Trio concluded its Mexico City appearances with a tenth recital on the evening: of October 18 amid the greatest enthusiasm. There was an audience that entirely filled every inch of available space in the i auditorium and hundreds were turned j away. At the conclusion of the con- I cert the public refused to leave tire i theatre, the stage was filled with flow- j ers thrown upon it by devoted ad- j mirers of the Cherniavsky Trio, and j finally the people thronged on to the ! stage, kissing the players’ hands and i manifesting in every manner their de- j light. The Cherniavskys were car- j ried to their cars on the shoulders of { the crowd and left the city like con- j quering heroes. It is said by those j who are familiar with musical matters j in Mexico City that no such sensa- \ tion was ever before known there. The Cherniavskys will appear at His Majesty’s Theatre on March 3, 6 and 8. under the direction of J. and 2ST. Tait, for positively three concerts only. Seats may be reserved at Lewis Eady, Ltd., from Thursday next. Special concessions are announced for students. A herd of maddened elephants charging direct at the camera forms one of j the most exciting scenes ever seen in a motion picture. This particular thrill | appears in “Chang.” tjhe Paramount wonder picture which received its Australian premier in the Anthenaeum Theatre, Melbourne, on January 28.
