NEW MAGISTRATE
MR. J. H. LUXFORD APPOINTMENT ANNOUNCED Mr. J. H. Luxford, the Auckland barrister, has been appointed stipendiary magistrate. The youngest son of a well-known Manawatu resident, Mr. W. L. Luxford. Mr. J H. Luxford was born at Palmerston North 37 years ago. and commenced his education in the *ame centre, continuing it later at the Wanganui College. He was admitted to the Bar when only 22, joining up with Mr. H. T. Gillies, of Te Awamutu, then <Trown Prosecutor From the end of the war until 1920. Mr. Luxford was in active practice in Hamilton. The following year he came to Auckland and joined forces with the Ist* Mr W. J. Napier. At the present time be is a member of the legal firm of Fitchett. Rees and Luxford. In addition to his legal career, the new magistrate has a distinguished military record, during . tincourse of which he has gained administrative experience both as a territorial officer and on active service that shouki be invaluable to him on the Bench. The "Official History of the New Zealand Machine-Gun Corps” is a testimony to n*s abilitv as an author, and he is a member of the Shakesiiearean and other literary I Clubs.
