MORE MAIN ROADS
BOROUGHS INCLUDED ADDITION OF 185 MILES (From Our Resident Reporter .) WELLINGTON. To-day. Following the Introduction of the petrol tax the Main Highways Board has decided to add to the subsidised main highways the roads on main routes passing through boroughs with a population fewer than 6 000. The alteration "will entitle these boroughs to a subsidy up to 30s to the £ instead of the £ for £ or smaller subsidy granted previously on the basis of the subsidy given in each case to the adjoining county. The addition means 185 miles of , highway, and includes: Wellington-Auckland, via Taranaki, Main Highway.—Otaki, 40 chains; Levin, 1 mile.4B chains: Foxton, 1 mile 1.. chains. Awaburi-Mangaweka, via Kimbolton: Feilding, 2 miles 70 chains. GreatfordWoodville. via Feilding and Asnnurst: Feilding, 1 mile 52 chains. Feilding-Stan-way: Feilding, 1 mile 74 chains, b oxtonShanncn: Foxton, 1 mile 55 c.mins; Shannon 44 chains. Levin-Palmerston North, via 'shannon: Levin. 53 chains; Shannon. 1 mile 13 chains. Wellington-Napier, via Wairarapa: Featherston, 1 mile 2S chains; Grevtown, 1 mile 74 chains; Carterton, 2 miles 22 chains; Eketahuna, 1 mile 40 chains; Pahiat.ua, 1 mile.
