WILDING SHIELD
REGAINED BY CANTERBURY OLLIVIER OUT OF FORM Press Association. WELLINGTON, Friday. The Canterbury lawn tennis team today regained the Wilding Shield from Wellington by winning in the series seven matches to five. On the first dav Canterbury led by five matches to one. Pleavy rain overnight made the courts sodden to-day, and play was only determined upon a vote of the players. Ollivier did not try at all against Malfroy, who was playing well. Seay and France played brilliant tennis under the bad conditions. In the doubles Angas and Walker overwhelmed Wilson and McGill, and Ollivier and Seay retired against France, and Malfrov. It was stated that Ollivier had ricked his back. The detailed results are as follows, the Canterbury players being mentioned first:— . . „ ~ _ Singles.—G. Ollivier lost to C. E. Malfroy I—6. 3—6; I. A. Seay lost to D. G. France. 4—6, 4—6; A. Angas lost to N. R. C. Wilson, 6—2. o—6, 4—6; K. J. "Walker defeated J. McGill. 6—2, 7—5. Doubles. —Ollivier and Seay lost to France and Malfroy, 6—3, 4—6 (retired.'; Angas and Walker defeated "V\ ilson and McGill, 6—3, 6 —l.
