TICKLED THE GIRL

INCIDENT AT CHURCH SERVICE A scene in a church was described at Braintree Police Court (England) when Frederick Overall, a young farm labourer, of Black Notley, was summoned for disturbing the congregation during the evening service at Black Notley Parish Church. A sidesman stated that he saw Overall tickle a girl under the arm during the singing of a hymn. A disturbance was caused and he ordered Overall out of the church, but he refused to go. The Rev. Frank Ayres, rector, said that in consequence of the disturbance he stopped the service and ordered Overall out. He went. Overall, who denied doing anything wrong, was fined £2.
