Bad Judges Two jockeys both tried to abandon the ride on one horse on Saturday at Wanganui in favour of another. Of course only one could succeed, but he really failed, for the despised and rejected animal reached the judge first. Such is the luck of the business! Cimabue Changes Hands •Cimabue has been sold through T. S. Roulston’s agency to Mr. R. J. Murphy, of Wellington. Cimabue will in

future be trained by H. B. Lorigan at Trentham. Cimabue was the property of his trainer, H. Neagle, who purchased him from his breeder, Mr. W. G. Stead, about a year ago. Youngster By Valkyrian Despite the fact that she is growing and furnishing the locally-owned two-year-old, Red Sea, is standing up to her tasks like a stout-hearted galloper, writes the Invercargill scribe “Sir Modred.” She has been kept busy since the spring season, but continues to train on and race freely. All going well in the meantime, the Valkyrian filly should be very useful when she enters upon her three-year-old career. Whakatane Racing Club The Whakatane Racing Club has decided to hold a race meeting on March 17. The annual report stated that the club had a credit balance of £lO3, although the loss on last year’s race meeting was £63, the day being very wet. Officers elected were: Patron, Mr. F. F.
