BUS DRIVERS TO GO

TRAMWAY REDUCTIONS SOURCE OF DISSENSION It is possible that the tranquillity that has reigned almost uninterrupted in the Auckland tramway service for a considerable period will shortly be disturbed. Dissatisfaction is at present brewing over the discharge of men from the service, the trouble not arising over the discharge of men, but over the method ot selecting those whose services arq being dispensed with. The position of the drivers taken over from the old G.O.C. Company enters into the discussion. From the union’s point of view the position is such that a special general meeting of members has been called for next Thursday to discuss the questions. The staff reductions being made affect some 20 men, and at present all the discharges are being made from the bus section.
