PROVINCIAL STOCK SALES

FRANKTON VALUES Dalgety and Co., Ltd., report having held their usual weekly stock sale at the Frankton Junction saleyards yesterday, as under:— There was a fair yarding of beef, but the quality was generally of moderate order. Prices were somewhat lower than last week, although extra prime quality was in keen demand at late rates. Young cows and heifers, of first class quality, made up to £7 17s 6d; ordinary quality cows, £5 5s to £6 7s 6d; inferior quality £3 10s to £4 12s 6d; runners, £3 2s. Only a few pens of store cattle were yarded. Four-year-old bullocks, £7 12s 6d; 2 and 3-year steers, inferior quality, £4 15s; yearling steers, £3 ss; store cows, £3 to £4 ss. There was a fairly large yarding of sheep. Our yarding totalled 1896. Only a few pens of fat sheep, which sold at advanced rates. Prime wethers, 25s 6d to 27s 2d; fat ewes, 17s to 23s 3d; light do., 15s 6d to 17s 10d; store ewes, 13s; 90 2 and 4-tooth wethers, 20s 6d; 96 2 and 4-tooth wethers, 20s lid; pen cull ewes, 9s 6d; 111 m.s. shorn lambs, 11s 9d; 18 cull 2 and 4-tooth ewes, 14s 6d; 13 cull ewes, 11s; 80 m.s. shorn lambs, 10s lOd; 97 wether lambs, 14s; 125 wether lambs, 16s; 44 do., 12s 6d; 33 down-cross 2-tooth ewes, 23s 6d; 26 2-tooth ewes, 23s 9dj SO aged ewes, 10s 6d; 82 mixed aged ewes, ISs. A medium yarding of fat pigs, with a small yarding of stores. Baconers were firmer. Porkers were easier, while stores increased in value. KING COUNTRY BUYERS SEEK EWES At the Taumarunui stock sale yesterday sheep of all classes were in good demand, ewes selling freely. Few cattle came forward. Prices:— Sheep.—M.S. lambs, 9s, 10s, 10s 6d, 15s, to 16s; hoggets, 20s to 21s 6d; old ewes, 10s 6d to 12s 6d; best ewes, from 20s to 28s 9d. Cattle.—Empty cows, £4 17s; good heifers, £6 10s; 4-year-old bullocks, £5 15s. Weaner pigs made 8s 6d.
